This is her story

This is the story of Kairi Yen Nguyen. Kairi was born with severe/total hearing impairment. I am keeping this web log for her so that she and others can share in the journey that her life will have to take with this condition.

Results from the Audiologist May 2007

After 2 visits and about 5 hours of testing, the results are in from the Audiologist.

Bilateral Sensorineural Hearing Loss
Put in plain English, both ears have "nerve deafness". This is the most common type of hearing loss that accounts for 90% of all hearing loss. If you want to find out the details of
this type of hearing loss, visit www.dizziness-and-balance.com This site offers great information about how our ears work and about deafness.

Every test that the audiologist threw at Kairi was met with the same results, "No Response". Every frequency was tested with the same "No REsponse". The audiologist even tried increasing the decibels to a above the safe level (90 dB)...not even a flinch from Kairi. 90dB would be comparable to a lawnmower. Not loud you say? Try putting the lawnmower in your ear.
